Janet S. Eldrett, age 93 of Perch Lake Road, Brownville passed away at her home Sunday morning. She had been under the care of her daughters and Hospice of Jefferson County. Janet was born October 12, 1913 in Saranac Lake, N.Y. She was the daughter of Vernon S. and Beulah Hopkins Brown .She was legally adopted byWallace and Marion Sprague, her mothers' sister following the death of her mother and she became Janet Sprague. She graduated fromBloomingdale High School in 1930 and Plattsburgh State Normal in 1933 with a degree in Teaching. She taught school in Bloomindale, N.Y., Saranac Lake, N.Y. where she retired in 1972 after 32 years. She married Donald H. Eldrett on November 28, 1935 in Bloomindale. Mr. Eldrett died November 8, 1996. She was a member of New York State Retired Teachers, Brownville United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters: Helen C. and Mary F. Eldrett of Brownville and daughter-in-lawKatie Eldrett of Phoenix, Arizona. She has three grandchildren: Sandra Mitchem of St. George Island, Fl., Karen Eldrett of Syracuse, N.Y. and Lisa Lucio of Solvay, N.Y.and six great grandchildren She also has a sister Audrey Personius of Lake Placid, N.Y. and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robert in November of 2006, two brothers Gordon Brown and Harry Brown and a sister Hattie Woerlick. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday March 3rd at 1:00 P.M. at the Brownville United Methodist Church with Pastor Helen Hadley, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Saranac Lake in the spring. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to American Diabetes Association or the Brownville United Methodist Church.
