Jean D. Yates, 86, of Black River, NY, passed on Saturday 1/21/2017 at the Samaritan Summit Village where she was a resident.

Jean was born on April 27, 1930 in West Carthage, NY to parents Dale and Dorothy Gorgen.

She is survived by her three children: daughter Lyda Yates, son and daughter-in-law David & Katherine Yates, and daughter and son-in-law Rita & Jack Lavaway. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by daughter Linda Yates, father Dale E. Gorgen, mother Dorothy LaMora Gorgen, and brothers Robert & John "Jack" Gorgen.

Jean lived in Limerick for 24 years where she was a homemaker and raised her four children. She lived in the village of Black River most of her life.

She loved antiquing and was an avid collector.

A calling hour will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 25 at the Bruce Funeral Home.   The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Black River Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Stroke Association.
