Obituary

Jennifer L. Arquiett, 64, of the Town of Champion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Samaritan Medical Center following a brief battle with cancer.

Born on July 14, 1962, in Watertown, New York, Jennifer was the daughter of Roland and Marjoria (Souva) Putman. She was a graduate of Carthage Central High School.

On June 29, 1985, Jennifer married the love of her life, James A. Arquiett, at Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in the Town of Champion, where they shared many happy years together.

Jennifer held a variety of jobs throughout her life. In the early 1980s, she tended bar at Gary’s Pub in Great Bend. She later worked in the Housekeeping and Laundry Department at the Inn at Fort Drum from 1992 until retiring in 2008 due to disability. James retired in 2019 after 15 years as a brewmaster at Fort Drum Commons.

Jennifer enjoyed hunting and fishing and in her younger years was an avid baseball player and bowler. She and James especially loved camping, with Whitaker Park in Martinsburg being one of their favorite places to spend time together.

Jennifer is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, James A. Arquiett; her siblings, Laura Putman of Rochester, NY, Elaine (Steve) Graves of Camden, NY, Tim Putman of Tug Hill, NY, David and Lloyd Putman of Carthage, NY, and Garrett Putman of Oregon; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Melissa Littlejohn; and her brothers, Mark Putman and Delbert Putman.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Bruce Funeral Home 131 maple St., Black River. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with burial in Felts Mills Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Jennifer’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
