Obituary

John Martin Morgan (retired SSgt.) formerly of Carthage, and presently of Dexter passed away August 11, 2016 at Upstate Medical Hospital, Syracuse. John was born in Ogdensburg September 6, 1953 the son of Robert and Leona Miracle Morgan. He grew up in Carthage where he attended Carthage High School and Jefferson Vocational Tech. as well as several military and Fire Dept. Schools. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 52 in Carthage, attended Camp Portaferry several years and a Brotherhood Member of O.A. John was a member of Carthage Area Rescue, former EMT for CARS, former Engine Capt. for Station #3 J.W.F.D. and former Pillar Point Firefighter and Fire Police. A 23 year member of N.Y. National Guard, 13 years with 127th Hemco Army Guard, Carthage, 10 years with 174th Fighter Services Air Guard, Syracuse, 9 years with NYNG Counter Drug Program, 45 day combat tour in Kuwait, supporting no fly zone in 2000, 90 day tour supporting Operation Enduring Freedom at B.I.O.T. He is survived by his wife Cathie Morgan of Watertown, two sons: Jessie and Dannielle Morgan of Adams and Jed Morgan and fiancée Stormy Ferguson of Watertown. Grandchildren: Tricia and Madison Morgan, Jacob and Joe Morgan, step grandson Connor Morgan . He also has brothers: Timothy Morgan of Glen Park and Michael Morgan of Cape Vincent and a sister Patricia Stehlin of Chicago and nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Saturday August 20th at 8:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Visitation will be from 7-8 P.M. prior to the service.
