Jon K. Massey, 52, of 422 Dimmick St., Watertown, passed March 2, 2014 at the Samaritan Medical Center.

Born on July 21, 1961 in Glens Falls, NY, son of Marshal K. Massey and Jeanette Gifford, he graduated form Watertown High School in 1979.

Jon developed an irrigation system for Chapin Watermatics Co. in Watertown and worked at Lewis & Clinch Manufacturers for many years.

He graduated from DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio in 1988 where he received a degree in computer engineering. He also continued with graduate level work thru Ohio State University and several universities in CA.

Jon then worked various jobs in high-end computer sales and networking in the Silicon Valley, CA and Ohio. He returned to Watertown in 2006 where he was an independent consultant in the local area.

He was an avid fisherman, loved boating on the St. Lawrence River, enjoyed computer games, reading, cooking, and had a life long love of learning. He was a championship level archer, skilled marksman, talented water-skier and a black belt in JUDO.

Among his survivors, are his loving companion, Elizabeth M. Scanlon and her children, Carol, Grant, Maura and Amelia; his mother, Jeanette Craig, Carthage; a sister and brother in law, Barbara J. and Sean D. Huff, Carthage and their children, Carlton, Katie and Keegan Huff, Carthage; a niece, Jena Massey, Chaumont.

A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

Calling hours will precede the service from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
