Josephine T. Cross, 95, of Felts Mills, NY, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024, in Clayton, where she was under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born on December 27, 1928, in Watertown, NY, Josephine was the daughter of Frank and Frances (Perrone) Gullo.
On April 25, 1953, she married George H. Cross at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Watertown, NY. The couple initially moved to California but returned to New York in the 1960s, residing at the family homestead since then. Josephine was a devoted homemaker, passionate about reading, attending movies, and enjoying her monthly luncheons with her cherished group of friends, the Sassy Seniors. Her beloved husband, George, a machinist, passed away on January 18, 2009.
Josephine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karan M. Cross and Edward A. LaVarnway of Ogdensburg, NY; her son and daughter-in-law, Dean H. and Laura Cross of Utica, NY; her granddaughter, Brandy Cross, and her fiance Eric Kowiatek; her grandson, Matthew Cross and his significant other, Aubrey Geigel; her great-granddaughter, Harper Cross; her brother, Ray Gullo of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and beloved husband, she was predeceased by her son, Brian A. Cross, her sister, Madeline Gullo, and her twin grandsons, Nicholas and Jordan Cross.
Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.
A Funeral Mass will be said 11a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Black River American Legion.
