Karen L. Montrois, 49 of Dexter passed away early Monday morning at home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Karen was born August 30, 1966 in Watertown, the daughter of James and Lise Burke Montrois. She graduated from General Brown Central High School in 1985 and went to Mohawk Community College and received her Bachelor's Degree from RIT. Later after working at Hobart College in Geneva as an IT Technologist she went to Potsdam State College and received her Masters' Degree in Design. She operated a Web-Design Co. from her home until she became too ill to continue. Karen is survived by her parents James and Lise Montrois of Dexter, her grandfather Bernard Burke of Watertown, a brother David and Jayne Montrois of Tallahassee, sisters: Sharon Lashway of Jupiter, FL., Christine and John Powers of Clayton and five nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville with Fr. Michael Gaffney officiating on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
