Katherine H. Hyde, age 98 of Dexter; passed away Friday afternoon at StoneHedge Nursing Facility in Rome, N.Y. Katy was born August 18, 1914 in Dexter, the daughter of Charles and Barbara Simon Helmetsie. She graduated from Dexter High School and Watertown School of Commerce. During WW11 she worked as clerk/typist at Rome Airfield and then Pine Camp now Ft. Drum. She later worked in the laundry at Samaritan Medical Center. She was the oldest member of First Presbyterian Church of Dexter, secretary of Dexter Senior Citizens. She is survived by cousins. She was predeceased by a son Frank C. Hyde in 1975. Also predeceased by a brother Frank Helmetsie , her sister Yolan Viscotha who died in March of this year. There will be a graveside service Thursday June 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Gail Parsons of 1st Presbyterian Church of Dexter officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
