Obituary

Katherine M. Morehouse, age 86 of Breen Ave. Watertown passed away at Samaritan Medical Center Thursday afternoon. She had been a patient since August 17th. Katherine was born June 20, 1922 in Highmarket, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Mary O'Reilly Joynt. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1940. She married Frank Gallo Sr. in 1945 and later divorced. She married Lawrence Morehouse in 1953 and he passed away June 4, 1972. She had lived in Dexter and Sackets Harbor prior to moving to Watertown, Arizona and returned to Watertown. Katherine worked as an Office Manager for Western Union in Johnson City and later White Plains. She then worked as a Bookkeeper for Watertown Bottling Co. and retired in 1988 from Sparacino and Co. in Watertown. She was a former member of American Legion Auxiliary Harold W. Townsend Post 1757 and Smith Savage Post 583 of Dexter. She enjoyed crocheting, Mets Baseball and Bingo. Surviving are the following children: Karen Eggleston of Cicero, Frank and Lisa Gallo of Watertown, Walter "Mike" and Patricia Gallo of Watertown, Mrs. Weston Yvonne Roach of Adams Center, Marilyn Ferguson of Hammond and Laura Cummings of Watertown. She has 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother Walter Joynt of Rapid City, South Dakota also survives. She was predeceased by a son Roy Morehouse on February 8, 2007. She is also predeceased by Brothers Joseph Joynt and Roy Joynt and a sister Helen Barney. There will be no funeral or calling hours. A private burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Donations may be made to Dexter Ambulance Fund. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
