Kenneth N. Thomas, age 80 of County Rte 62, Watertown passed away at Samaritan Keep Home on Saturday afternoon. He was born March 3, 1926 in Russell, N.Y. the son of Harold and Katherine Walker Thomas. He attended school at Camps Mills and Sackets Harbor. He entered the Navy in February of 1944 serving aboard the USS Yosemite and the USS Samaritan during the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and the Philippines. He was a Seaman First Class when he was discharged in 1946. He married Gladys I. Towsley on February 28, 1947 in Watertown. The couple has lived at their present home all their married lives. He was a self employed truck driver and was a welder for Hall Ski Lift, SMI and Sno Blast Sicard of Watertown. He retired in 1990. He was a member of Harold W. Townsend Post 1757 American Legion of Sackets Harbor and the VFW of Watertown. He is survived by his wife Gladys and six children- Mrs. Ted Terry L. Gonseth of Sackets Harbor, David B. Thomas of Cape Vincent, Mrs. Lloyd Vicky L. Stokes of Watertown, Mrs. Frank Nancy S. Tubolino of Sackets Harbor, Harold F. Thomas of Casselberry, Florida and Stacy M. Thomas of Watertown. He has nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He has a brother Hazen Thomas of Great Bend and nieces and nephews also surviving. A brother Fay Thomas and a sister Hilda Snyder predeceased him. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Helen Hadley pastor of Dexter United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 12:00-2:00 prior to the funeral.
