Larry James Cring, 59, of Watertown, New York passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2016 at 6:35 pm, under hospice care with his family at his side.
Born March 27, 1956 in Watertown, New York, Larry was the 10th child of Kenneth F. and Rita M. Cring. He attended Sackets Harbor Central School.
Larry joined the U.S. Navy in 1975 and was honorably discharged in 1980. He attended Naval Submarine School, International Morse Code School, and Radioman Electricity and Electronic Submarine School. He served on the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, was stationed in the Mediterranean spending time in Italy, Spain and Egypt. He received a Naval Commendation in 1978 for saving the life of a Spanish citizen while on liberty in Rota, Spain.
After his military service, Larry worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Virginia, Barry, Bette, Led Duke Construction Company in Watertown, New York, and various other construction companies in the Norfolk, Virginia area.
Larry enjoyed reading and loved watching the history channel. He liked to cook and he lovedtelling a good joke.
Larry is survived by daughter Mariah Vaughan and her husband Bill of Idaho; daughter Jessica Leann Millington and her husband Brian of Virginia; son John Raymond Cring of Virginia; 6 grandchildren; brother Kenneth C. Cring of Malone,N.Y.; sister Bonita Y. Phillips and her husband Peter of Sackets Harbor, N.Y.; sister Suellen J. Youmans and her husband Terry of Longs, SC; sister Kay R. Shultz and her husband Larry of Adams Center, NY; sister Lois E. Dennis of Hamburg, NY; brother Harold R. Cring and his wife Stphanie of Sackets Harbor, NY; brother Howard R. Cring and his wife Carmen of Cicero, NY; sister Teresa M. Campbell and her husband Mark of Mount Vernon,WA; sister Dawn E. DeFranco and her husband Samuel of Katy, TX; 99 nieces and nephews and his cat Fido.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth Frederick and Rita Mae (Baker) Cring, and brother Gerard Michael Cring.
