Obituary

Leo T. Pettey, age 91 of Mill St. Three Mile Bay passed away at the home of his daughter Sherri Lynn Wilson of County Rt. 125 Chaumont on Friday morning at 7:10 a.m. He had been under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Leo was born January 22, 1920 in Watertown the son of Lester and Stella Haskins Pettey. He graduated from Chaumont High School. He married Ethel A. Daniels on December 2, 1941 at the Three Mile Bay Baptist Church. Leo was a farmer, worked at Gibson Laundry in Watertown as a mechanic, was a heavy equipment operator during the building of Watertown Airport, and retired after 44 years as a bus driver for Lyme Central School. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife Ethel and a son Leo F. Pettey of Chaumont and daughter Mrs. Leo Sherri Lynn Wilson of Chaumont. He has 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and cousins. Funeral services will be Monday 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Mark Pierce of River and Lake Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6-9 P.M. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, Three Mile Bay Ambulance Fund or the Three Mile Bay United Methodist Church.
