Leon F. Podvin, 74, of 17120 County Rt. 53, Dexter, passed April 28, 2017 at his home where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

The funeral service with military honors will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 2 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born on November 7, 1942 in Watertown, son of Gerald and Bernadette (Bourdon) Podvin, he attended General Brown High School.

Following school he entered the US Navy in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963.  He married Donna L. Gray of Watertown on April 4, 1964, the marriage ended in divorce in 1993.

Mr. Podvin was a mechanic working at Sears, Goodyear and retired after sixteen years from Cheney Tires.

He married Devota Miles on May 11, 1995 and the couple resided in Dexter.

Mr. Podvin was an avid hunter, fisher, bowler; he coached little league baseball when his children were young, was the former president of the Watertown Little League Baseball Association and he enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

Among his survivors are his wife Devota Miles-Podvin, Dexter; six daughters and a son in law, Wendy S. Podvin and her companion Jim Staub, Calcium, Laurie J. Podvin and Adam Brown, Watertown, Cathy A. Hollenbeck, Calcium, Jennifer L. Podvin, Watertown, Pamela L. Podvin, Watertown, Jessica E. and Lisandro Torres, Watertown; three sons and a daughter in law, Timothy A. and Brenda Podvin, Gary F. Podvin,  Brian M. Podvin all of Watertown;  two brothers and their wives, Richard and Linda Podvin, AZ, Jim and Yvonne Podvin, Sulphur Springs, NY; 25 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
