Leroy D. LaVancha Sr., age 65 of Bronson St. Watertown, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Samaritan Medical Center Er. Leroy was born January 6, 1950 in Carthage the son of Everett and Harriet Datoush LaVancha. He went to Harrisville High School and graduated from Lowville Academy. He served in the Marine Corps from 1968 until 1970. He married Maureen E. Thomas on September 20, 1969 in Harrisville. He worked aat Ft. Drum as a civil engineer until becoming disabled. He is a member of American Legion Post 61 of Watertown and former member of the Marine Corps League. He is survived by his wife Maureen, children: Teresa and Steven Hibbitts of Watertown, Sharon and Clifford Burns of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Leroy " Skip" and Tara Lavancha Jr. of Dexter, Melinda LaVancha of Watertown. He has nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sisters Blanche Trainham and Dawn LaVancha both of New Breman and brothers Floyd of Colorado and Lloyd of Virginia, nieces and nephews surviving. He was predeceased by his parents and a grand daughter Coby LaVancha. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. There are no calling hours.
