Linda J. Peterson, 66, formerly of Black River, passed May 6, 2014 at the Loretto Health and Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse where she had been a resident.

The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.  A calling hour will proceed the service from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Black River Cemetery.

She was born on January 18, 1948 in Watertown, NY, daughter of Leo and Gladys Case.

She married Allen Peterson on December 2,1967 at the Black River First Baptist Church.  Mr. Peterson served with the Army Reserve for 22 years and worked on Fort Drum as a heavy equipment inspector for the 98th Division.  He passed October 30, 1995.

Mrs. Peterson resided in Black River and worked on Fort Drum as a civilian employee in the financing department for twenty years, retiring in the early 2000's due to health issues.

She was a member of the Black River Methodist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

Among her survivors are three daughters, Dawn Peterson, Utah, Michelle Peterson, Hawaii, Jennifer Peterson Charter, Hermon; 12 grandchildren;2 great grandchildren; a brother and several nieces and nephews.
