Obituary

Loren C. Perrin Sr., 80, of 144 Cedar St., Watertown, passed July 14, 2014 at his home where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 27 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown with Rev. Tom Allen officiating.

Calling hours will precede the service from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Born on March 24, 1934 in Watertown, NY, son of Nathan and Flossie Augustus Perrin, he graduated from Watertown High School in 1952.

He served in the National Guard and Army Reserves from September of 1952 and was honorably discharged in October of 1963 as Sergeant First Class.  During that time he was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis.

He married Josephine J. Turturro on April 17, 1955 at St. Anthony's Church.  She passed June 23, 1996.

Mr. Perrin went to work for Niagara Mohawk in 1956 as a mechanic for 38 years, retiring in December of 1993.

He married Bonnie Atnip on June 30, 1989 in Dexter, NY.  The couple resided in Watertown and they enjoyed wintering in Spring Hill, FL.

Mr. Perrin was a member of the IHC Athletic Association for 15 years, involved with the Federal Baseball Little League, Pop Warner Football, the Niagara Mohawk 25 Year Retirement Club, he served on the Board of Directors for the Red & Black Football Team and was a very active member for 40 years, a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge, Brownville American Legion and a member of the Men's Auxiliary to the VFW Post 1400.  He was a member of the Marine Corp League #708 and while he served in the Marine Corp League he was a member of the Honor Guard Team at the Florida National Cemetery attending over 500 funerals.  He was also very involved with the Toys for Tots Program for 17 years.

Among his survivors are his loving wife, Bonnie E. Perrin, Watertown; a daughter, Valerie A. Towles, Watertown; three sons and their wives, Loren C. Perrin Jr. and Susan, Theresa, NY, Bruce G. and Laurie Perrin, Stephentown, NY,  Mark .N. and Margaret Perrin, New Hartford, NY; six grandchildren, Chrystal, Joshua, John, Maxwell, Jacob and Cassandra; 3 great grandchildren, Ivy, Logan and Storm; three sisters, Charlene Burns, Irene Seery and Joan DeLine all of Watertown; several nieces and nephews.

A son in law, Randy D. Towels and five sisters, Emily LaRose, Elizabeth Freeman, Flossie Trickey, Marion Ferguson, and Delores Hosmer all passed before him.
