Marba “Mary” Kenyon of Canton, New York, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at the Hospice of Jefferson County Residence at the Ellis Farm. She was 79.

Mary was born on August 18, 1946, in Canton, New York, the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Oppedison) Scarfone.

She graduated from Hugh C. Williams High School and S.U.N.Y. Canton, and spent most of her life in Canton. Mary worked at St. Lawrence University, among other roles, before finishing her career as a Certified Nurse’s Aide with United Helpers and Care Givers.

Mary cherished time with her family, holding a special place in her heart for her granddaughter.  She loved traveling to New Orleans to visit her son and daughter-in-law, watching movies, and caring for her beloved dog, Cooper.  Her greatest gift was her ability to laugh at herself and share that joy with those she loved. The “Marba” moments will live on forever.

She is survived by her three children: Shelly Kenyon of Madrid, New York; Tracy Robert of Canton, New York; and Christopher (Jill Marie) Kenyon of New Orleans, Louisiana; her granddaughter, Cecelia McKinley; and her brother, Joe Scarfone of Burleson, Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1938 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601, in appreciation of the compassionate care provided to Mary. The family also extends their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Upstate Medical University for their care and support.
