Obituary

Margaret E. Finnegan, 90, formerly of Black River passed January 6, 2015 at the Samaritan Medical Center.

The funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, January 8th at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.

A calling hour will be 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 8th at the funeral home.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 9th at the Black River Cemetery.

Born on February 17, 1924 in Black River, NY, the daughter of Henry and Nettie Clark Greico, she graduated from Black River High School.

She married William F. Finnegan Sr. on September 19, 1942 at the Sacred Heart Church, while he was stationed at Camp Drum.  He served in the Army and Army Air Corp during WWII.  Following the war the couple settled in Black River where Margaret was a homemaker.  Mr. Finnegan worked for the NYS Department of Transportation.  He passed October 9, 1977.

Mrs. Finnegan lived in Black River until 1980.  She moved to Dexter where she resided until entering the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home in 2012.

She loved listening to music and dancing.

Among her survivors are three sons and two daughters in law, William F. Finnegan Jr., Brownville, Patrick M. and Cathy Finnegan, Clarksville, TN, Timothy J. and Patricia C. Finnegan, Watertown; two sisters and their husbands, Clifford and Jane Dyke, FL, Robert and Nancy Papin, NC; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A brother, Harold Harvey and a sister Tulli Murphy passed before her.
