Obituary

DEXTER, N.Y. Marian F. Hewitt, 91, formerly of Dexter, passed away 9:40 p.m. Monday at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown. Born April 21, 1918, in Stone Mills, the daughter of Fred and Maude Hagerman Loomis, she attended school at Perch River. She married Joseph E. Hewitt at Stone Mills. The couple lived in Dexter for over 35 years. He died June 19, 2004. Marian worked as an Avon representative for 15 years and operated the Coffee Hole, a coffee shop at their home on the Black River during the salmon season. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Anderson, Watertown; a son, Donald Hewitt, Lowville; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Bellinger, Watertown; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandsons, Tom Hewitt and Greg Anderson, a granddaughter, Gail Hatcher, and two sisters Edna Barker and Lula Morse. A memorial service will be held in the spring at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
