Obituary

Marjorie A. Lortie, Wood St. Dexter passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse Saturday morning. Marjorie was born in 1921 at the family farm in Limerick, N.Y. the daughter of Jay Perry and Stella Dennie Allen. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1939 and married Paul T. Lortie on March 26, 1942 at the Methodist Church Manse on Mullin St. in Watertown by the Rev.Albert Abbot. Mr. Lortie died in 2001. Marjorie was employed by the office of the Frontenac Paper Mill in Dexter for seven years and retired in 1977 from Dexter Elementary School as educational secretary to the principal. Mrs. Lortie was a member of the former First Universalist Church of Dexter until it closed, she and her husband were active members of Kountry Kuzzins Square Dance Club for many years and she was a member of the Dexter Historical Society and she was member of United Methodist Church of Dexter. She is survived by twin daughters- Mrs. F. James Joanne Harter Jr. of Harrisville and Mrs. Thomas Suzanne Brown of Fulton. She has three grandchildren and four step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Helen Hadley, pastor of Dexter United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday. Donations may be made to Dexter Ambulance Fund or the Dexter Historical Society.
