Obituary

Mary L. Coleman, age 89 of Lodi Rd. Dexter, passed away Monday evening at her home. She had been under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and her family. Mary was born November 7, 1917 in St. Regis Falls, N.Y. the daughter of Albert and Anna Snyder LaVere. She attended schools in Town of Worth and on Pillar Point. She married Earl Coleman in 1947 at the Dexter Methodist Parsonage. The couple owned and operated a farm on Pillar Point until 1985. She had also done housecleaning for the Evans family of Evans Mills and was a homemaker. Mr. Coleman passed away August 1, 2000. She was a member of the Rebeccas and the Dexter United Mathodist Church. She is survived by a daughter Linda Coleman at home and a stepdaughter Erma Branagan of Smyrna, N.Y. She has two sisters; Rose Helmer of Ellisburg and Doris Fillhart of Dover Plains, N.Y. a brother Paul LaVere of Florida. She also has nieces and nephews surviving. She was predeceased by brothers Herman LaVere, Kenneth LaVere and a sister Blanche Rivett. Funeral services will be Friday 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with the Rev. Helen Hadley of the Dexter United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, Dexter United Methodist Church or the Dexter Ambulance Squad.
