Mary passed away at her home October 16, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Born October 29, 1939 to the late Roswell and Nellie Wallace, Chaumont. She graduated from Lyme Central School, Chaumont and attended the House of Good Samaritan School of Nursing, Watertown. Mary was a licensed practical nurse who volunteered for the American Red Cross and was a private duty care giver. On October 14, 1950 she married William F. Hewitt in the Chaumont Presbyterian Church. They resided in Three Mile Bay operating a dairy farm until 1966. She enjoyed family, crossword puzzles, traveling with friends and her church. She is survived by her husband William; three daughters and their spouses, Marget (Meg) and William Myers, Gouverneur; Tracy and Robert Lawson, Three Mile Bay; Heidi and Jose Bernier, Dexter; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. A son John, two brothers Robert and Karl, two sisters Rosemary and Marion Avis died before her. Mary's life will be honored on Saturday October 25, 2014 at the Three Mile Bay Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M.
