Dexter, NY - Mary E. Hughto, 93, formerly of Brown Street in Dexter, passed away Sunday afternoon at Summit Village Nursing Home.
Mary is survived by four children and their spouses, Betty J. and Frederick S. Schaeffer of Rochester; Darryl L. Hughto and Susan B. Roth of Canastota; Martin J. and Sharon L. Hughto of Dexter; Cathy A. and Frank Hughto-Delzer; eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald L. Hughto of Dexter, her sister, Hazel Fulkerson of Adams, and her brother, Ralph Timerman of the Town of Orleans.
Calling hours at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dexter will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 10:00 am followed by burial at the Dexter Cemetery.

Mary was born on her family's homestead in the Town of Orleans, the daughter of Claude Eugene and Nettie Fleming Timerman. She graduated in the Class of 1939 from LaFargeville High School and attended Canton ATI for a year. After her children had grown, Mrs. Hughto worked in the General Brown Central Schools as a Health Office Aid for over 17 years until her retirement in 1991.
Mary attended the First Presbyterian church in Dexter, the village where she had lived from 1948 to January 2014 when she moved to Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, cooking, sewing, shopping for bargains, and most especially, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
