Obituary

Mary J. McCauley, age 88 of E. Main St. Brownville passed away Monday morning at Country Manor Nursing Home in Carthage. She had been a resident there since June of 2009. Mary was born March 14, 1923 in Brownville the daughter of Robert and Leah Daniels Taylor. She graduated from Brownville Glen Park High School in 1940 and later the Rochester School of Business. Mary worked as a secretary at Pine Camp, was a dental assistant and receptionist for Dentist William McFarline in Watertown until she was married to James K. McCauley on March 5th, 1946 at All Saints Church in Chaumont. She continued to work as an elections inspector in Brownville for many years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by three sons: James W. and Helen of The Villages, Florida, William M. of Watertown and John T. of Brownville. Two grandchildren, Brian of Arizona and Jennifer and Marc Knapp of Watertown, two great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1997 and a brother James D. Taylor. A funeral mass will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church of Brownville. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter on Thursday. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
