Obituary

Nettie A. Main went to heaven on October 4, 2010 while at home under the loving care of her son William and daughter Betty. Nettie was born August 8, 1908 in Watertown, daughter of Lucy Cooke Sturtevant and William Cobb. She attended schools in Pierrepont Manor and Sulphur Springs. She married Lester Main on April 26, 1930 in Sackets Harbor. He died in 1961 at the age of 54. She traveled with her husband throughout New York State on construction jobs. They later settled in Lorraine where her father a blacksmith purchased a farm that she and her husband operated. In 1941 they moved to a house her father built in Camps Mills, town of Hounsfield where she still resided with her children William and Betty. She is also survived by a son Richard of Watertown. She worked at Calavo Fruit Processing in Sackets Harbor for 29 years. She was a member of Hounsfield Senior Citizens, Sulphur Springs Methodist Church, and United Women. She was a past member of Eastern Star of Sulphur Springs and a charter member of Sulphur Springs Ladies Auxiliary. She loved doing quilting, needlework and crafts and her flowers. Nettie was predeceased by a brother Edwin in 1958. A graveside service will be held Saturday 1:00 P.M. at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with Rev. Tracy Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers you can donate to a charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent to 18692 County Rt. 66 Watertown, N.Y. 13601. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
