Norman H. Griffith, 86, formerly of Burnup Road, Black River, passed September 15, 2017 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where he had been a resident.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. The Order of the Eastern Stars followed by the Masonic Lodge will have a service beginning at 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wed., Sept. 20 at the funeral home with his nephews David Rivers, Executive Director of Elim Christian Resort and Conference Centre and Kevin Kitto, Lay Leader of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at the Black River Cemetery.
He was born on December 14, 1930 in Watertown. He attended school in Glen Park.
Following school he served in the US Marine Corp. for a short time before being honorably discharged. He then worked for Coughlin Printing Co. in Watertown for 34 years.
He married Wilma Jones on December 9, 1978 at the Black River Baptist Church. The couple resided in Black River.
He was an active member of the Watertown and Black River Masonic Lodges for over 60 years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars #343 in Black River.
Among his survivors are his beloved wife, Wilma Griffith, his sister in law, Nina Rivers, NC, nieces and nephews, David (Marlene) Rivers, Peterborough, Ontario, Floyd (Kathy) Rivers, Glenfield, Rick (Lynn)Rivers, Lacona, Terry (April) Rivers, Adams, Marietta (Kevin) Kitto, Sackets Harbor, Rebecca (Joseph) Lambert, NC, and several great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Samaritan Keep Nursing Home second floor staff for all their love and care during his stay.
