Peggy A. Carr, 75, of Hermon, New York, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at Gouverneur Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Peggy was born on April 23, 1951, in Newark, New York, the daughter of Donald and Estel Lee Macagg. She graduated from Harrisville Central School.

She was first married to Stewart Best, and together they had two children before later divorcing. Peggy later married Charlie Carr, and together they had a son before their marriage also ended in divorce.

Throughout her life, Peggy held various jobs in the local area, spending many years working in food preparation at Price Chopper in Watertown. She enjoyed thrifty shopping, watching movies, and spending quiet time at home. Most of all, Peggy loved her family and cherished the time she spent with family and friends.

Peggy is survived by her longtime companion, Paul Noftsier of Hermon NY; her three children and their spouses, David and Katrina Best of Harrisville, Pamela and Philip Moses of Chaumont, and Charley and Sonia Carr of Harrisville; eight grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren, two sisters and brother-in-law, Dolly and Warren Bidwell of Chaumont, NY, a Patti and Roy Trombley of Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Portlyn Macagg of Harrisville; along with several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents and by a sister, Kathi

Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no services. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
