Obituary

Phyllis Marie Chase, age 73, of Haines City, Florida, passed away on Monday (October 5, 2015) at Good Shepherd Hospice House after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of Terry R. Chase of Haines City, Florida. Phyllis was born in Watertown, New York on February 8, 1942 and grew up in Dexter, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Dudley B. Chapman and Edith G. (Fowler) Chapman. Phyllis worked at Rexam D.S.I., Brownville, N.Y. as a Traffic and Office Manager for 20 years where she had countless friends before she retired in 2001. Besides her husband, Terry, Phyllis leaves behind two sons Terry Chase, Jr. and his wife, Louise Chase of Enfield, CT and Todd Chase of Baltimore, MD and a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Michael Parks of Dexter, N.Y. Phyllis also leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as cherished nieces, cousins and close friends. Phyllis was pre-deceased by her much loved daughter, Melinda Chase who passed from a life long struggle with liver disease at the age of 16 in August, 1981. Phyllis was an incredible person, with a jest for life and laughing. She loved reading, traveling, gardening and doing many craft activities. Phyllis loved to give anonymously to many causes, to include ending childhood hunger, school supplies and backpacks for children, breast cancer awareness and cures, to name a few. Along with Phyllis' loving devotion to her husband Terry, she counted her many relationships with her family and friends as the most cherished moments she carried in her heart. Phyllis was predeceased by her much loved brother, Clarence Chapman in January 1967 and beloved daughter Melinda Chase, who passed from a life long struggle with liver disease at the age of 16 in August 1981. At Phyllis' request, the memorial and burial will be a private event in Dexter, N.Y. for immediate family only, arrangements being made with Johnson's Funeral Home, Dexter, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Phyllis' name to Good Shepherd Hospice - Forsythe Team, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, Florida 33823
