Phyllis J. Simpson, age 74 of County Rte 53, Watertown passed away Sunday 3:00 P.M. at University Hospital, Syracuse. She had been a patient since May 5th. Phyllis was born June 6, 1936 in Watertown the daughter of Carl and Catherine Tiernan Goodfriend. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1956. She married A. Albert Simpson on June 16, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Watertown. They moved to their present home in 1958. Phyllis held several jobs including JJ Newberry, Howland's Dept. Store, Empsall's, Sugar Creek Convenience Stores as a clerk. She went to work for Freeman Bus Corp in 1984 until she retired in 2005. She is survived by her husband Albert, two sons and their wives; Allan J. and Renate Simpson of Altamont, Brian D. and Connie Simpson of Slingerlands and a daughter and her husband Cathy and Darrin Pitkin of Dexter. She has eight grandchildren; Paige, Charles, Alex, Tyler & Ashley Simpson , Nolan, Katie and Rhea Pitkin. She also has a brother Carl Goodfriend of California. She was predeceased by a sister Eleanor Woodard in 1999. Funeral mass will be Wednesday 11:00 A.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 . Donations may be made to the General Brown Booster Club.
