Raymond F. Doane, age 88 of Felts Mills, N.Y. passed away Saturday morning at Lewis County General Hospital Nursing Home in Lowville; where he had resided for the past 3 ½ years. Raymond was born July 13, 1925 in Pamelia, N.Y. the son of William and Winifred Gibson Doane. He attended school in Sackets Harbor and entered the US Navy in 1943 serving until 1945 in the Asiatic, and the Philippines. He married Betty C. Liptrott on September 1, 1948 in Adams, N.Y. Raymond was a forklift operator at the N.Y. Air Brake until his retirement. He was a member of the Bowling Team for the AirBrake, drove stock cars at the Watertown Fairgrounds and the Edgewood Speedway. He was an avid fan of the Red and Black Football team. He is survived by his wife Betty and three daughters: Darlene and Tom Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Denine Doane of Felts Mills, N.Y. and Diane and Mark Habeeb of Sackets Harbor, N.Y. He has 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, a sister Marie Gould of Watertown, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Spencer and brothers Donald and Robert Doane.
