Obituary

Raymond Vincent Scanlon, 67, of Black River, NY, passed away on February 9, 2025, at Buffalo General Hospital.

He was born on January 21, 1958, in Oklahoma, the son of Leslie and Emily Siebert Scanlon. Determined to build a career for himself, Raymond worked to put himself through locksmith school, becoming a locksmith in 1978. He owned and operated his own business until his interest in computers led him to a new path. Passionate about technology, he dedicated himself to building, repairing, and programming computers, eventually becoming an Information Technology Technician for the State of New York until his retirement.

Beyond his professional life, Raymond was an amateur radio technician since 1999. In retirement, he continued working with computers and embraced new experiences, always eager to learn and enjoy life to the fullest.

Raymond is survived by his nieces, Anita Casselberry and Theresa Span; his nephew, Doane Graves; and his brothers-in-law, Kenneth Graves and David MacKay.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Timothy Scanlon, and his sisters, Patricia Ann Graves, Janet Ruth Casselberry, and Nancy Irene MacKay.

Arrangements are with Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held at this time.
