Obituary

Richard G. Brown, Dexter, N.Y. passed away April 27th, 2014. Richgard "Brownie" , son of Clarence and Doris Allison Brown, was born March 29, 1941 in Limerick, N.Y. He went to elementary school in the one room schoolhouse in Limerick and attended Dexter High School. He ran the family farm for years. He also worked at SMI and Bomax in Watertown. He owned and operated Brown's Laundry and was a driver for Kinney Drugs; retiring from there in 2009. He was active in the Dexter Fire Dept. driving ambulance for many years and also being a fire co-ordinator for awhile. He was an avid bowlerand was always happy helping people out. Brownie was a fixture in Dexter who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He is survived by his loving family including his lifetime partner of 36 years, Diane Carroll, stepchildren: June (Dann) Venton, William (Tia) Carroll, Linda (Robin) Carroll, Deb (Bill) Joice, MaryAnn Carroll,, Timothy (Lisa) Carroll and daughter Cheryl Smith. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Frances Carpenter, brother Curtis Brown and Howard Smith. A funeral service will be held Friday April 30th at 3:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home Dexter. Calling hours will be from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. prior to the funeral. Donations may be made to the Dexter Fire Dept. in lieu of flowers.
