Obituary

Richard F. Hamlin, age 74 of North Shore Rd., Pillar Point passed away at 2:50a.m. Sunday morning at Mercy Healthcare Center; where he has resided since last July. Richard was born July 22, 1933 in Watertown the son of William A. and Rena VanOstrand Hamlin. He attended school in Watertown. He married Mary A. Weston on October 14, 1977 in Watertown. The couple has lived at their present home for several years. He worked for Canada Dry as a deliveryman and then worked construction for Andre Toutant for several years. He last worked for the Children's Home of Jefferson County where he was a Childcare Worker and also worked in Maintenance. He was an avid woodworker. Richard is survived by his wife Mary and the following children: Richard and Susan Hamlin of Carthage, Jerry and Kelly Hamlin of Clayton, Daniel Hamlin of Watertown and Mike Hamlin of Dexter, Judy and Roger Sorrell of Dexter, Laura Greer of Dexter. He has a brother William Hamlin of Florida and thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Christine Hamlin in 1996 and a grad daughter in infancy. A funeral service will be held Wednesday 1:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with the Rev. Helen Hadley, pastor of Dexter United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 11:00 -1:00 P.M. prior to the funeral. Donations may be made to the Children's Home of Jefferson County or Mercy Heath Care Center.
