Richard T. Naysmith, 65, of 10016 County Rt. 125, Chaumont, passed September 14, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, 117 N. Massey St., Watertown.

The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the St. Vincent of Paul Cemetery in Cape Vincent.

Born on October 23, 1951 in Philadelphia, PA, son of John R. Naysmith and Florence Lockridge, he graduated from Watertown high School.

Following school he worked construction in the local area for several years.  He then worked for Jefferson County Building & Grounds from 1998 and retiring in 2015.

He married Nora P. McCarthy on March 2, 1984 in Kingston, Ontario.  The couple resided in Watertown.  She retired from the Jefferson County Building Code Office in 2015.

Richard enjoyed building and puttering around the house.  He was also a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge #496.

Among his survivors are his beloved wife Nora P. Naysmith, Chaumont, a daughter and son-in-law, Victoria L. and Ryan C. Conlon, NC, a son and daughter-in-law, Kirk W. and Angela C. Anderson, Seneca Falls and three grandchildren, Liam, Makenzie and Ryleigh.

A brother John Naysmith and a sister Shirley Naysmith passed before him.
