Obituary

BLACK RIVER, N.Y. — Rita May Walton, 91, of 142 West Remington St., died at 10:05 p.m. on Sunday evening at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, after being admitted on Aug. 10. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. Born Oct. 6, 1921, in Watertown, a daughter of the late John and Lulu LaVere McDermott, she graduated from Black River High School. She married Leslie Walton of Black River on Sept. 15, 1943, at St. Paul's Catholic Church Rectory, with Rev. James Fix, officiating. He died Dec. 13, 1988. She was employed by Fort Drum as a secretary, and later as a sales clerk for Red & White Grocery Store, and also for the Quick Stop, Black River. Mrs. Walton was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Precious Blood, and the Rural Carrier's Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and knitting. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Walton, Black River, and Mrs. Glenn (Sharon) Fralick, Adams Center; a granddaughter, Jodi Delles, Watertown. Two brothers, Jack and Joseph McDermott, a sister, Marion Williams, and a granddaughter, Nikki Fralick, all died before her. Contributions may be made to the Black River Ambulance Squad, P.O.
