Robert C. "Bob" Scougal Sr., 74, of 12 Academy St. Antwerp, passed Monday evening January 23, 2017 at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County.

Born on July 22, 1942 in Carthage, NY, son of Clarence and Ruth Sherman Scougal, he attended Carthage Schools.

Following school he worked for NY Air Brake and DeFeriet Paper Mill for many years.  He married Joanne Brow on June 15, 1974 and the couple moved to Florida where he was a heavy equipment operator for various vegetable packing houses. Their marriage ended in divorce.  While in Florida he married Jane Jeffers, the marriage also ended in divorce.  In 1992 he returned to Watertown and held various jobs before moving to Pulaski.  There he met his long time companion of 22 years, Mary Smith and worked for Oswego International as a machine operator up until he retired.  In 2006 the couple returned to Watertown. Ms. Smith passed July 15, 2015.

Bob enjoyed fishing, playing pool, NASCAR and watching baseball.

Among his survivors are his two sons and daughter in law, Robert C. Scougal Jr., Watertown, Clifford W. and Tina M. Scougal, Antwerp; a brother and sister in law, Clifford D. and Margaret Scougal, Carthage,  a sister, Ruth Sly, Herrings; four grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and long time companion two brothers, David and Clarence Scougal and two sisters, Doris Kramer and Geraldine Paul passed before him.

A calling hour will be Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, January 26 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery in the spring.
