Obituary

Robert Charles Feneran, 72, a resident at the Brookdale Assisted Living in Syracuse and formerly of Philadelphia, NY passed April 19, 2016 at Community Hospital in Syracuse.

A memorial service with military honors will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Bruce Funeral Home 131 Maple St., Black River.

Calling hours will be 1to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Born on June 14, 1943 in West Carthage, NY, son of James and Margaret Hammill Feneran, he graduated from Carthage Central High School in 1961.  His father James was killed in a train accident in Carthage, February 1947.

He worked at Jean's Bean's during high school and prior to entering the Army National Guard in 1963.  His marriage to Linda Secor ended in divorce.

Following his honorable discharge he went to work for St. Regis Paper Co. up until they closed.  He then worked a few years for Green Thumb on Fort Drum.

He enjoyed going to the dirt track races and traveled to various tracks to see them and his favorite drivers.  He also owned several Gold Wing Motorcycles and took many trips including a trip to California.

Among his survivors are a son and daughter in law, Tracy "Douglas" and Jackie Feneran, Clay, NY; a daughter, Vickie Feneran, Watertown; a sister, Virginia Bloss, West Monroe, NY; a brother, Gerald Webb, Black River; two granddaughters and their husbands, Amanda and Dustin Lee and Christina and Robert Thomson; a grandson, Scott Feneran; two great grandchildren, Xavier Thomson and Kayla Feneran; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Bingo.

His long time companion Bev Sugrue died April 16, 2016, a sister, Jamesene Feneran Cullen in 2001 and a grandson, Aiden Feneran all passed before him.
