Robert G. Hunter, 67 of Three Mile Pt. Road Chaumont passed away at Samaritan Medical Center Saturday morning unexpectedly. He had open heart surgery the week before. Robert was born May 2, 1948 in Ogdensburg the son of Robert L. and Dorothy V. Aznoe Hunter. He graduated from Hammond Central School and Brockport University with a master's degree. Robert taught health at Watertown High School until retiring in 2003. Bob was a member of NYSUT, Sackets Harbor Sportsmen's Club and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and carved duck decoys and enjoyed his garden. Bob married Carol M. McAvoy on January 9, 1971 at the Presbyterian Church in Hammond. The couple lived in Brownville for many years and retired to their new home in Chaumont. Carol passed away December 29, 2012. Bob is survived by his three sons and their wives: Michael and Rebecca of New Woodstock, Jonathan and Tara of Marian, Bradley and Becki of Rochester; grandchildren Robert, Morgan and Rachel. He has one brother Gary and Marilyn Hunter of Hammond and a niece and nephew. A memorial service will be held Wednesday 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Don Briant officiating.
