Robert J. Long, age 69 of Brownville, N.Y. passed away February 5th at Samaritan Medical Center. Robert was born March 7, 1944 in Syracuse, N.Y. the son of Edwin and Arvilla Elathorp Long. He attended school in Hammond and Clayton. He served in the Navy Reserves from 1961 to 1964. Robert married Jacqueline Doull on September 10, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville. He was an heavy equipment operator for the NYSDOT until retiring in April of 2001. Robert was a member of Brownville Fire Dept. and American Legion Post 588. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline, children: Robert and Kathryn Long of Waddington, Michelle Long of Brownville and Jennifer and Roger Cross of Smyrna, Tennessee. He has eight grandchildren. Two brothers: David and Jill Long of Deland, FL. and Gary Long of Orlando, FL. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Leon VanWie officiating.
