Obituary

Roger B. Stock, 68, of Fernwood Dr., Black River, passed July 5, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital.

A Funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Friday, July 8 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Black River followed by military honors at the church.  Burial will follow in the Black River Cemetery.

A long time resident of NY, Mr. Stock has lived in Black River for the past 42 years.  He was born on April 6, 1948 in Oswego, NY, son of the late Roger N. and Flossie M. (Pickard) Stock and he graduated from Oswego High School in 1967.

Following graduation he entered the US Air Force on October 3, 1967 and served a tour in Vietnam before being honorably discharged on August 19, 1975.

Roger was united in marriage to Patricia Ditoro of Oswego on June 1, 1968 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oswego.  Following Mr. Stock's tour in the US Air Force, the couple resided in Back River.

Mr. Stock was employed at Fort Drum and retired in 2007 with over 42 years of federal service.  He then worked part time as a maintenance man at Kamargo Apartments in Black River for three years.

He enjoyed NASCAR racing, watching pro football, any and all outside work and loved helping others.   He was a member of the Black River American Legion Post #673 and Watertown VFW #1400.

Among his survivors are his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia "Pat" Stock, Black River; two daughters and a son in law, Jennifer L. and Matthew Valente, MI, Jessica V. Stock, Watertown; a son and daughter in law, Wesley N. and Penny Stock, WI; four grandchildren, Amanda and Emily Valente and Ava and Odin Stock-Roshia; four sisters and their husbands, Sandy and Steve Ridge, NC, Nancy and Bruce Callen, Debra and Chuck Ford, Kathy and Mike Gentile, all of Oswego; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents a brother, Joseph T. Stock died before him.
