Rosalyn E. Bates, 80, of 255 Seymour St., Watertown, died August 19, 2015 at the Samaritan Medical Center.

A Funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Saturday, August 22 at the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown.  Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.

She was born on March 10, 1935 in Watertown, NY, daughter of Charles and Mable Shoen, she attended Watertown High School.

She married William Bates, of Watertown, on August 24, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Church.  William passed away on February 12, 1996.

Rose was a teacher's assistant for the Watertown City School District for 35 years. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.  She loved her animals and was a wonderful cook, baker and gardener.

Among her survivors are a daughter Penny A. Bates, Watertown; three sons, Mark W. Bates, Joseph P. Bates and Christopher J. Bates all of Watertown; three grandchildren, Michael Bates, Hilary Bates, Courtney Bates and one great grandson Miles Milner.

Two brothers Merrill and Charles Shoen died before her.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
