Obituary

Roswell "Pete" Segovis, age 89 of Watertown and long time resident of Sackets Harbor, died Saturday morning at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Pete was born February 28, 1921 in Watertown, the son of Charles and Catherine LaLonde Segovis. He attended school in Watertown and Calcium. He served in the Army from 1945 until 1946. Pete married Doris V. Johnson on April 3, 1943 in Sackets Harbor. He worked at M.E. Avery in Watertown as a truck driver until his retirement. Pete was a member of Watertown V.F.W., former member of Sackets Harbor Sportsman's Club and also Bedford Creek Golf Club. Pete is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Judy and James Wheeler of Hanahan, S.C. and a son and daughter-in-law Roswell "Rod" and Nancy Segovis of Sackets Harbor. He has 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He also has a companion Barbara Hoops of Watertown. He was predeceased by his wife Doris in 2003, and a great granddaughter and a great grandson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Leon VanWie of Asbury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 P.M. Donations may be made to the Town of Watertown Ambulance Fund.
