Ruth "Joyce" Brown, age 89 of Allen Rd. Watertown passed away at Samaritan Medical Center ER Thursday evening. She was born September 11, 1924 in Fair Haven, N.Y. the daughter of Arthur and Clara Brace Scott. She graduated from Fair Haven High School. Joyce worked as a Supply Clerk at Ft. Drum and retired in 1986. She married Edley C. Brown on August 23, 1969 in Carthage. She is survived by her husband Edley and the following children: Clifford Downey of Norwood, Roseanne and Woody Palmer of Gouverneur, Kevin and Cindy Downey of Brownville, Sarah and David Pitkin of Dexter, Mary and John Cleary of Watertown,. She has 23 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren, a brother Willard Scott of Webster, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Pamela Fuller and a son Kenneth Brown. Also predeceased by her siblings: Marjorie McFarland, Leora VanPatten, Florence Meade, Marie Randall, Dorothy Blanchard, Lucille Neels, Leon Scott, Mary Morgan, Helen Tiby, Gilbert Scott, Elaine O'Brien. A memorial service will be held Thursday May 29th at 3:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Calling hours will be from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown. Donations may be made to the charity of ones' choice.
