Ruth M. Halpainy, age 90 of Cole Road, Carthage, passed away April 1st, 2015 at University Hospital, Syracuse, N.Y. She had been a patient since March 10th. Ruth was born October 4, 1924 in Union City, PA to Leo and Violet Smith. She graduated from Union City High School. Ruth had married Roger Shampoe who later passed away, she then married Karl Anderson whom also passed away and then married Ray Halpainy whom also passed away. She was a homemaker. She is survived by the following children: Shirley Voyles of Hood River, Oregon, Cheryl Shampoe of White Salmon, Washington and Kevin and Liz Shampoe of Brownville. She has ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. A brother Ernie Smith of Erie, PA also survives. She was predeceased by a son Raymond Shampoe last month, and a brother Lloyd Smith and a sister Stella Archer. Ruth will be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
