Obituary

SSG Bryce E. Leek, 35, of LaFargeville, NY and formerly of Corry, PA passed May 14, 2015 at the Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 24th  11:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home 117 N. Massey St., Watertown. A prayer service will be held 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 24th at the River Community Church in Clayton, NY. Born on February 14, 1980 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Philip and Ann Menne Leek, Bryce graduated from Corry Area High School in 1998. Following school he entered the US Army in August 1998 and served three years active duty.  In August 2001 he served with the 3rd Battalion, 103rd Armor Regiment of the Pennsylvania National Guard.  While serving in the National Guard he attended and graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Sociology.  Upon his graduation, he returned to active duty service with Fort Drum's 2nd Battalion, 87 Infantry Regiment in December 2007. SSG Leek's active duty career included four combat tours to Afghanistan and a Peace Keeping tour in Kosovo. His career honors included a Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal with three Oak Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars. SSG Leek married Stephanie Burlingame on September 4, 2004 at the Presbyterian Church of Corry, PA.  She is currently employed by LaFargeville Central School as a substitute teacher.  The couple has resided in LaFargeville since 2008. Among his survivors are his wife, Stephanie M. Leek, LaFargeville; two sons, Daniel J. Leek and Andrew J. Leek; a daughter, Joelle M. Leek; his father and mother, Philip and Ann Leek, FL; a brother and sister in law, Dean and Heather Leek, Lebanon, Ohio; two sisters and a brother in law, Dawn and Doug Franz, Laguna Beach, CA, Michelle Leek and her companion Rene Still, Corry, PA; several nieces and nephews.
