BLACK RIVER, N.Y.  —  Teresa G. "Tess" Branagan, 92, of 118 Union St., passed Sunday, June 8, at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home, Watertown. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Bruce Funeral Home, Black River, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ninon Hutchinson, pastor of St. John's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Black River Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Born April 8, 1922, in Pitsford, a daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth Amell Waterstraat, she graduated from high school in Saranac Lake.  She then attended college in Albany. She worked at the movie theater in Saranac Lake where she met Keith Branagan.  He worked at the movie theaters in Watertown and was transferred to Saranac Lake. They were married on May 19, 1951 in Saranac Lake. The couple moved to Black River in 1960. Teresa worked at the Brierton Grocery Store in Black River and in the cafeteria at Black River Elementary School as a cook. She was a homemaker and volunteered at the Black River Library for several years, was an active member of the St. John's Episcopal Church, honorary member of the Black River American Legion, long time auxiliary member in the Black River Fire Department. She enjoyed knitting. Among her survivors are her husband, Keith F., Black River; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ernest "Butch" Branagan, Va., Craig F. and Jeanine Branagan, Md.; a daughter, Susan M. Branagan, Black River; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, John and Louis Waterstraat, two sisters, Eleanor Kiah and Marie Miller, and a grandson, Micah Prior, all passed before her.
