Obituary

Thomas Francis Beatty, 65, of Brownville, New York, passed away at his home on May 27, 2026.

He was born May 28, 1960, in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Thomas Leo and Joan Marie (Berstler) Beatty. He attended school in New Jersey and, following his education, served as a volunteer firefighter for a short time before proudly entering the United States Army on April 30, 1986.

During his distinguished military career, Thomas served as a combat medic and dedicated himself to caring for fellow servicemen and women. Through years of hard work and commitment, he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge and retirement on May 21, 2004. While serving his country, he furthered his education by attending Pikes Peak College and Wayland Baptist College, earning bachelor’s degrees in Healthcare Administration and Business Administration.

Thomas married the love of his life, Bethany L. Rogers, on July 1, 1995 in Acushnet, MA. The couple met while both were stationed in Hawaii serving in the United States Army. Bethany proudly served 13 years on active duty and currently works as a civilian employee at Fort Drum.

Following military assignments, the couple moved to the Watertown area while Thomas was stationed at Fort Drum and made their permanent home in Brownville in 2001.

Throughout his military career, Thomas received numerous awards and decorations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Rifle Bar Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge, and Grenade Bar Qualification Badge. He also completed extensive training as a Combat Medical Specialist and Combat Lifesaver Instructor.

Thomas was a member of the Brownville American Legion.

Among his survivors are his loving wife, Bethany L. Beatty of Brownville; his son, Ian C. Beatty of Brownville; his brother, Timothy R Beatty of New Jersey; his father-in-law, Hugh Joseph Rogers Sr. of Massachusetts; sisters-in-law, Laurie A. Rogers of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Kelly L. Rodrigue and her husband John of New Hampshire, Denise Beale of Maine; brother-in-law Hugh Joseph Rogers Jr. and his wife Amy of Freetown, Massachusetts; along with several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are with Hart & Bruce Funeral Home 117 N. Massey St., Watertown. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 21883 Cole Road, Carthage, New York, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3rd. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service at the church until 12:15.

Burial with full military honors will follow at 1 p.m. in Brownville Cemetery.

Donations in Thomas' memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
