Thomas R. Huni

Black River- Thomas R. Huni, 52 passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 17, 2017.  In Tom's final years, he battled heart disease receiving a lifesaving quadruple bypass at age 38 allowing him to continue to enjoy his interests and time with family and friends.

Tom was born in Watertown, N.Y. on January 22, 1965 the son of Robert and Margaret Huni.

He graduated from Carthage High School in 1984.  Tom was a dedicated manager of Seaway Sales in Watertown for more than 32 years. There he provided exemplary personal service to many individuals and companies throughout the North Country.

Tom had a love for the outdoors and would often give walking tours of the surrounding woods and Poors Island to visiting nieces and nephews near his home in Black River. He was also an avid Yankees fan and made a number of pilgrimage trips to Yankee Stadium to see them play in person and the sights of New York City.  He was a part-time DJ as well, who provided music for weddings and other special occasions. He had a terrific sense of humor and brought a smile to all he met. He was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed.

Tom is survived by his father Robert (Bucky) Huni, Black River, brothers David and sister in-law Julia Huni, Sisters, Oregon, Chris Huni and Ken Huni, Black River, and Dan and sister in-law Judi Huni, Coalinga, California, as well as his sister Mary (Huni) Ryan and brother-in-law Shawn Ryan, North Syracuse. Also surviving are nieces Meghan Ryan, Brenna Ryan, Courtney Ryan and Bridget Huni; nephews Douglas Huni, Maxwell Huni and Collin Ryan; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tom was predeceased by his mother Gladys Margaret Huni on August 8, 2016.

A private memorial service for Tom will be held at a later date surrounded by the family he so deeply loved. There will be no calling hours or funeral services per the family's wishes.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Black River Ambulance Squad.
