Valerie M. Reed, 50, passed August 31, 2013 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1984.

Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tues., Sept. 3 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. The funeral will follow the calling hours at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

She was born on January 6, 1963 in Watertown, daughter of Maurice D. Reed and Joyce D. Booth.

Valerie was stricken at an early age with a brain tumor. She resided with her mother who cared for her for several years. She then lived at JRC''s Hostile for two years before becoming a resident at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.

She enjoyed watching TV, puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

Among her survivors are her mother, Joyce D. Reed-Floetenmeyer, Watertown; two brothers and their wives, Dennis W. and Jill Reed, Watertown, Kenneth K. and Eleisia A. Reed, Dexter; a sister, Donna L. Hernandez, Constantia, NY; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her father Maurice D. Reed a brother Robert D. Reed passed before her.
