Obituary

William P. McLean, 79, of 23276 Fernwood Dr., Black River, passed May 5, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.

A Funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 at St. Paul's Catholic Church. A prayer service will be held 10:30 a.m., prior to the Mass, at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.

Burial will follow in Black River Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 9 at the funeral home.

Born on August 3, 1936 in Black River, son of Andrew P. and Anna A. Noon McLean, he attended Black River High School.

He married Shirley A. Ripley on January 2, 1960 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Black River with the Rev. James Fix officiating.

Mr. McLean worked as an electrician for Mclean Electric, Dangler Electric, Able Electric, and owned and operated Bills Electric for seven years.

He and his wife moved to Silver Springs, Florida in 1992.  Shirley died May 21, 1997.  Mr. Mclean moved to Carthage in 2006 and in 2013 moved to Black River and resided with his daughter Kitty.

Mr. McLean was a member of the Black River Fire Department for twenty five years, former president and member of the racing team.  He was a member of the Black River Sons of the American Legion, Eagles Club in Florida, Moose Club in Palatka Florida Lodge #184 and Communicate of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Among his survivors are two sons and their wives, William P. and Peggy McLean II, Ocala, FL, John R. and Penny McLean, Silver Springs, FL; two daughters and their husbands, Darlene M. and Wayne LeRoux, Carthage, Kathryn M. "Kitty" and Joseph Sparacino, Black River; a brother in law, Jack O'Brien, Black River; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his loving wife Shirley, two sisters, Ester A. Alley, Sue O'Brien, a brother, James McLean and a great-grandson, Brayden Sears all died before him.
